The 2013 ARDOR Short Story Contest was open to submissions of short fiction up to 8,500 words in length from January 1, 2013 to March 31, 2013. The story selected as the winner will receive a prize of $500 and will be published alongside a short author-interview as ARDOR’s Featured Prose in Issue Three (September 2013). All entries will be considered for publication in ARDOR. Chris Offutt will serve as guest judge for the contest. The winner and finalists will be announced by June, 2013.

Guest Judge: Chris Offutt
We're thrilled that veteran story writer Chris Offutt will serve as guest judge for our inaugural short story contest. Chris has published three collections of short stories (Kentucky Straight in 1992, Out of the Woods in 1999 and Luck in 2011), two memoirs (The Same River Twice in 1993 and No Heroes in 2002), a novel (The Good Brother, 1997) in addition to recent success writing for the screen. Chris' work has been anthologized in Best American Short Stories, he has been awarded a Gugenheim Foundation Fellowship for Fiction (1996), a Whiting Writers' Award (1996), a Lennan Fellowship for Fiction (2003) and was a Writers Guild of America Nominee for best writing for the HBO series True Blood (2008). He currently serves as an Assistant Professor of English & Screenwriting at the University of Mississippi.
